A Hallway

It was a place I inhabited for most of my adult life. A place that altered itself to meet my every psychological need, the location of which could not be found on any physical plane. It was my Eurydice. It was my City of Sodom. I had looked back so many times. there was a price that I paid for splitting my reality into two. And when I finally recognized that the place was a redundancy, I wondered why I had been in the delusion for so long.

I’m content with the way things are. I feel cut loose. To put it more accurately, I have cut myself loose. Nothing to search for, nothing to obtain. No need for old or new connections. Nothing to analyze or solve or explain. Nothing to remove. It is all fine the way it is. The only thing that matters is what is right in front of me.

At least, until the habit of the mind reasserts itself.
